  4. Matching the Alcubierre and Minkowski Spacetimes
    Osvaldo L. Santos-Pereira, Everton M. C. Abreu & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
    European Physical Journal C, vol 86, 46, (2026)
Highlights: The Darmois junction conditions matching an interior Alcubierre warp drive geometry to an exterior Minkowski are studied. The match imposes
that the warp drive shift vector satisfies a particular inviscid Burgers equation. The results show that the warp drive geometry is not globally flat.

  5. World Personal Income Distribution Evolution Measured by Purchasing Power Parity Exchange Rates
    J. D. A. Islas-García, M. del Castillo-Mussot & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
Revista Mexicana de Física, vol 71, 061701, (2025)
Highlights: Global income distribution for 1988-2018 is studied using PPP exchange rates. CCDF curves showed trends in inequality. Late middle classes growth
in China and India changed the distributions from bimodal to unimodal. Single-functions are good fits, but the sum of two log-normals led to near-perfect fits.

  6. Galaxy Mergers in a Fractal Cosmology
    Bruno J. Souza, Osvaldo L. Santos-Pereira & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
    European Physical Journal C, vol 85, 455, (2025)
Highlights: Galaxy mergers are modeled in a parabolic Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi cosmology with two consecutive fractal galaxy systems with dimension D starting at the
Local Group or Local Supercluster. Mergers are represented by a redshift dependent power law. Numerical solutions show: D=1.5 for 0.1≤z<1.0; D=0.5 for 1≤z≤7.

  7. Theory Assessment and Reality in Boltzmann's Epistemological Thinking
    Marcelo B. Ribeiro & Antonio A. P. Videira
    Interdisciplinary Science Reviews, vol 48, Nr. 1, 62-76, (2023)
Highlights: Boltzmann's epistemology states that scientific theories are images of Nature. So, theories can be described by different viewpoints. Realizing later that
theoretical pluralism is not enough to avoid dogmatism, Boltzmann went beyond the nature of scientific knowledge to include realism, the nature of the represented objects.

  8. Warp Drive Dynamic Solutions Considering Different Fluid Sources
    Osvaldo L. Santos-Pereira, Everton M. C. Abreu & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
In: Proceedings of the 16th Marcel Grossmann Meeting on General Relativity (5-10 July 2021),
    R. Ruffini & G. Vereshchagin (eds): Singapore: World Scientific, 840-855, (2023)

Highlights: Einstein equations solutions using the original Alcubierre warp drive metric endowed with dust, perfect fluid, anisotropic fluid, and perfect fluid
within a cosmological constant are reviewed. A connection of some of these solutions featuring shock waves described by the Burgers equation is also shown.

  9. Galaxy Distributions as Fractal Systems
Sharon Teles, Amanda R. Lopes & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
    European Physical Journal C, vol 82, 896, (2022)
Highlights: Galaxy distribution samples containing ~ 1 million objects show 2 consecutive redshift scales where galaxy distribution data behave as single fractal
structures: z<1 (D=0.88-1.58) and 1≤z≤4 (D=0.28-1.19). A decades old theoretical prediction of a decrease in the fractal dimension for z>1 is then confirmed.

  10. The Power Spectrum of Cosmological Number Densities
Amanda R. Lopes, Marcelo B. Ribeiro & William R. Stoeger
European Physical Journal Plus, vol 137, 942, (2022)
Highlights: The power spectra (PS) of galaxy volume number densities are constructed with four different cosmological distance definitions in the FLRW cosmology.
The radial correlation is presented in the wave number domain. Some distances have PS similar to those obtained with the galaxy 2-point correlation function.

    Iker Olivares-Salaverri & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
Astrophysics and Space Science, vol 366, Nr. 11, 109, (2021)
Highlights: Galaxy surface brightness profiles are compared to observations in two cosmological models: ΛCDM and EdS. A galaxy sample at 1.5≲z≲2.3 is used
to test which cosmology is represented by brightness profile observations. Results show high uncertainties and negligible evolution of the Sersic index.

  12. Perfect Fluid Warp Drive Solutions with the Cosmological Constant
    Osvaldo L. Santos-Pereira, Everton M. C. Abreu & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
European Physical Journal Plus, vol 136, 902, (2021)
Highlights: Solutions are found for the Einstein equations with the cosmological constant Λ for the Alcubierre metric with perfect fluid. Energy conditions are also
analyzed. Depending of the sign and value of Λ the shift vector can be a real function, so negative matter might not be a requirement to achieve superluminal speeds.

    Osvaldo L. Santos-Pereira, Everton M. C. Abreu & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
General Relativity and Gravitation, vol 53, 23, (2021)
Highlights: Einstein equations with the cosmological constant are solved for the Alcubierre warp drive metric with charged dust as source. Energy conditions
are partially satisfied by both positive and negative matter density. Effects of the electromagnetic field on the warp bubble dynamics is also presented.

  15. Fractal Analysis of the UltraVISTA Galaxy Survey
Sharon Teles, Amanda R. Lopes & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
    Physics Letters B, vol 813, 136034, (2021)
    Highlights: The UltraVISTA galaxy survey is tested for fractal structures. Two consecutive single fractal dimensions were found: D=(1.58 ± 0.20) for z < 1;
D=(0.59 ± 0.28) for 1 ≤ z ≤ 4. This suggests either unclear observational biases causing D to decrease or that galaxy clustering was void dominated in the past.

  16. Income Distribution Dynamics of Economic Systems: An Econophysical Approach
    Marcelo Byrro Ribeiro
    Cambridge University Press (2020)
Highlights: This book uses the econophysics perspective to study the income distribution. Several functions that fit income data are presented. Two separate
research traditions are discussed: the statistical physics approach, and the one based on non-linear trade cycle models of macroeconomic dynamics.

Everton M. C. Abreu, Newton J. Moura Jr, Abner D. Soares & Marcelo B. Ribeiro
    Physica A, vol. 533, 121967, (2019)
Highlights: Oscillations in the complementary cumulative distribution function of individual income were found in the data of various countries. This
behavior can be described if the q-parameter of the Tsallis distribution becomes complex. An example is shown by numerically fitting Brazilian income data.

Journal of Mathematical Physics, vol. 28, 657-660, (1987)
